Tips For Working Out During The Sweltering Dog Days Of Summer
Just because the temperature has been hot, doesn't mean you should put your fitness goals on the back burner. Here's tips to stay cool during your workout. The summer is here, but that doesn't mean your fitness goals should be put on the back burner just because well, your back's burning in the summer sun. There are some things that you can do to help you survive your summer workouts in the sun. London personal trainer Andy Vincent gave some of his professional advice to make the most of your workout:
1. Keep Hydrated- Start your day with warm water with lemon and salt to replace electrolytes lost during your previous day's workout and help regulate your body. Plus, make sure you drink water before, during and after your workout to make sure you replenish fluids throughout the day.
2. Eat High Water Content Foods- leafy vegetables that are 80% water and foods like tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries and more.
3. Eat Meat And Its In The Morning- Eating lean meats and nuts give you the protein you need to increase your performance during your workout.
4. Plan It And Know You- Know the best time of day to workout (early morning and late at night) and know your body. If you feel like your getting close to passing out, or dizzy or your body doesn't feel right make sure you stop. Before you pass out on the side of a road and have to have a random lady give you water because you couldn't make it home. It's happened to me.
