It's National Moonshine Day! Top 5 Legal Moonshines

Also known as white lightning, mountain dew, homebrew, hillbilly pop, (my personal favorite) rotgut and way more than we have time to list, Moonshine has been around forever. Here in the U.S. we can thank my Scotch-Irish descendants for bringing distilling skills with them when they came over and settled in Virginia in the 1830’s. If you don’t know what Moonshine is you’re probably the kind of person who pays their taxes but don’t worry I won’t hold it against you. Moonshine is just an illegally distilled spirit made mostly of corn mash, it’s just a distilled whiskey that an individual makes and then sells illegally. Back in 1919, after the 18^th Amendment was ratified, over half the country was dry and moonshine was a very big business. Nowadays there are small-batch distilleries producing legal moonshine that you can find anywhere. I can say that I personally have only tried one kind of store bought Moonshine and I’m pretty sure I could’ve used it to make my car run.
