This year's nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced and, as usual, it is an eclectic group. But who deserves the honor?

This year's batch of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fam were recently announced. The list included groups that have been on several times, a few times, and others for their very first time. But the real question is- who should be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year? Before we tell you who is on the lucky list, you may want to know the criteria is for a musician or group to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Usually, between five to a dozen artists are inducted into the Hall, that have released their debut album at least 25 years ago. Their innovative music must have also influenced future artists and left a lasting impression. The criteria is pretty broad a opinionated, depending on who you are discussing music with. So the picks for a hip hop lover will be vastly different from a rock or pop fan.

Here is the list of the nominees:

  • Radiohead *
  • Nina Simone *
  • Link Wray
  • Moody Blues *
  • Rage Against The Machine *
  • Judas Priest *
  • Kate Bush *
  • Dire Straits *
  • Eurythmics *
  • Sister Rosetta Tharpe *
  • J. Geils Band
  • Jon Bon Jovi
  • Depeche Mode
  • The Cars
  • The Zombies
  • The Meters
  • MC5
  • LL Cool J
  • Rufus featuring Chaka Khan

Nine of the nominees on the list have been nominated for the first time. Those artists have a star (*) next to their name.

When looking at the list, you can start trying to figure out which will and won't be inducted in. Usually there is at least one deceased entry, a R&B or rap artist, a folk or influential singer-songwriter and a first-time nominee.

If you use those criteria, I think we can see The Zombies, Nina Simone or Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Kate Bush and Radiohead. Remember, these aren't my picks but just who I think we can see in the Hall of Fame. After looking at the list and knowing a little bit more, who do you think we will see in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
