Residents of a lakeside community in Fort Bend County were shocked to see an alligator with a large knife sticking out of his head. Alligators are some of the toughest animals in the wild and the sight of one can instill fear in almost anyone. But the sight of a certain alligator in a lakeside Fort Bend County community is causing concern not for the residents but for the animal itself. The alligator has been spotted with a large knife sticking out of its head.

Local resident Erin Weaver told KTRK about first spotting the gator:

"I saw him swimming and then I saw him turn, like swimming towards me, and I saw something sticking out of his head. It looked like a steak knife that was sticking out of his head, I don't know if it was in his eye, but it looked, if it wasn't in his eye it was very close to his eye. Almost every morning I see them. Never have I seen them aggressive or even defensive, if you walk by and startle, them they just go under water. I feel that somebody did this on purpose. I can't imagine this animal going after somebody that they would have to defend themselves, because we've never had that happen before. I want to get help for this alligator, I don't want to see an alligator swimming around with a knife in his head and suffering."

Officials with the Texas Parks and Wildlife said they would be stopping by the neighborhood this week to do a welfare check on the animal while the superintendent of the Brazos Bend State Park had some good news for those worried about the reptile. He said that alligators are resilient creatures and that the gator is most like not suffering, even with the knife sticking out of his head.
