When it comes to winter, snow is a part of it.  At least in certain places in Texas, it is a normal occurrence.

At some point in time, each area in Texas has experienced snowfall.  Do you remember 2021, when Winter Storm Uri shut down Texas?  People were without power, heat, water, and more.  ERCOT became a phrase everyone in Texas knew about and used it as a cuss word.

According to Mike Gittinger, NWS Meteorologist in Charge in Amarillo, The place that gets the most snowfall in Texas,

It’s essentially the NW panhandle.

Boise city gets close to 30”, and Amarillo gets 16.9”.

Since the Texas Panhandle is further up north, it is safe to assume that it would get more snowfall than anywhere else in Texas.

Dallas saw its largest snowfall on February 11, 2010, receiving 11.2" of snow.

According to the NWS,  Hillsboro, Texas (located on I-35 between Ft. Worth and Waco) received 26 inches of snow in a 24-hour period December 20-21, 1929, this was certified as the all-time 24-hour snowfall record for the state of Texas.

Remember February 2013?

February 25, 2013, to be exact, Amarillo received 19 inches of snow.

For those that live in the Texas Panhandle, we have lived with a lot of snow over the years.  We will continue living with snow.  Snow is always fun when you don't have to drive in it or work in it.  Snow is the best when you get to play in it or even eat it.
