Stripes Releasing Second Selena Cup

So back in March of 2017 the first set of Selena commemorative cups came out at Stripes and folks went nuts. I’m predicting this Saturday we’re going to see more of the same.

Stripes has the second of three collectible Selena cups that they will have available for purchase this Saturday, March 9th. It’s the “Selena Rose” limited-edition collectible cup and I’m guessing it’ll be sold out and up for sale on eBay by the same afternoon.

The cups will be available starting at 10 a.m. but customers will be allowed to line up starting at 8 a.m. The cups will be available at Stripes locations in Texas and Louisiana.

According the Stripes website, they worked together with Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, to create the design of the cup. The cup has an image of a young Selena against the background of white roses with her signature in red. The first of the limited-edition collectible cups celebrating the life and legacy of the late Tejano singer was released in March of 2017 with another design released in April of last year. This year Stripes is releasing the set of three cups over the course of three months.

The first of the set of three limited-edition collectible cups came out on February 23rd of this year. The “Queen of Cumbia” cup sports a pop art look with a retro-look around a black and white sketch of Selena. You’ll have to wait another month for the last cup in the set. The last cup in the set will be released in April so be on the lookout for that one as well if your collecting them.

Stripes is also a founding sponsor of the fifth annual Fiesta de la Flor (FDLF), a two-day event held in Corpus Christi, Texas, honoring the life and legacy of Selena. This year’s Fiesta de la Flor is April 12-13, in the superstar’s hometown of Corpus Christi. If you aren’t able to grab the cups at your local Stripes when they come out, the entire 2019 three-cup collection, while supplies last, will be available for purchase at the Laredo Taco Co. food trailer during the event. The food trailer will be located at Stripes La Plaza on the event grounds. As will the cups released at Stripes, there will be a limit of two cups per customer, while supplies last.
