This is something that has bothered me for a few years now, but I've never really said anything, because, well, it's silly. But with the final season of Game of Thrones underway, I think it's time we correct the people who don't know how to pronounce one of the characters names.

It's one of the main characters. DaenerysFor some reason people want to turn this into a 4 syllable word. Here is how I lots of people pronouncing her name:

  • dah-nar-ee-us (WRONG)

If you look at the end of her name, it's just 'rys'. So I'm not sure where this extra syllable is coming from. Here is how the name should be pronounced. The proper THREE syllable way:

  • dah-nair-is (RIGHT)

I'm not sure I'm getting the phonetic spelling right, but you get my drift. It's three syllables, not four. Here is a video to make my point.
