Nickelback Start Work on New Album, But Admit They’re No Kanye West
There's some good news and some bad news for Nickelback fans. Yes, the band is back at work on new music, but as they so humbly put it, they'll likely not reach the heights of one of their peers from another genre -- Kanye West.
In revealing the news to fans that they had re-entered the studio, the band tweeted with their good natured self-depracating sense of humor, "Good news: We're working on new music. Bad News for us: Kanye West's 'Swish' will be the best album of all-time." #SWISH #Kanye.
As you might expect, there were a few fans that weren't exactly sure how to take that tweet, which likely prompted the follow-up message in which they stated, "Last #Kanye tweet wasn't shade. We're fans. Breathe."
It should be noted that West wasn't as humble in describing his own music, posting a recent tweet that stated, "So happy to be finished with the best album of all time."
The final Nickelback tweet revealing the studio news was a photo of the buttons on the studio console signifying the microphone channels for Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Daniel Adair and Mike Kroeger. Check out all three tweets below:
Typically a band returning to the studio is cause for some excitement for fans, but in the case of Nickelback, there's a little more at stake. The band dropped off their touring in support of the No Fixed Address album last summer and later had to cancel out all their remaining dates when it was revealed that Chad Kroeger needed extra recovery time from his vocal surgery for a cyst. So news of the band's return to recording is a positive sign that all is well with Kroeger and their recording career will resume as normal. Stay tuned for more updates on Nickelback's next album.
