The tiny little town just about two and half hours north of us, Floydada, TX, is known as the Pumpkin Capital of the United States.

The Assiter Punkin Ranch & Pumpkin Patch grows over 1,800 acres of pumpkins that yo can come pick. They are a working pumpkin far that is open from mid-September through Halloween. At this farm you can sort through 1000's of pumpkins until you find just the right one. While you are there, they have a petting zoo, a miniature train ride, and of course food.

That isn't the only farm in town where you can find pumpkins. Pumpkin Pyle is another farm that produces over 65 different varieties of pumpkins. They are more of a whole sale dealer, who ship to stores and stuff, but they are still part of what makes Floydad the Pumpkin Capital of the U.S.

The second weekend in October every year the town hold it's Punkin' Days.

Punkin' Days is an event for the entire family and attracts 1000's of visitors every year. Visitors can shop from over 100 vendor booths, pumpkin decorating, games and of course, a pie eating contest. What would a festival in Texas be without a BBQ and Chili Cook-off, you can enjoy that too. Then some of the largest pumpkins you have ever seen will be auctioned off. But while you are there make sure to check out all the pumpkin decorated houses and businesses.

Floydada also host a "Trunk or Treat" event for Halloween and of course you can find plenty of pumpkins.
