The Beer Institute just released their annual list of the biggest beer drinking states in the country and not surprisingly, Texas lands in the top 10.

According to 24/7 Wall St., People in North Dakota rank number one in drinking the most beers, New Hampshire ranks number two which is flipped from last year's results. Texas came in at number nine.

North Dakota last year averaged 45.8 gallons of beer consumption per person.  That means the average person drank 489 cans of beer.

The top ten states rank in order as follows: North Dakota, New Hampshire, Montana, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Nevada, Vermont, Nebraska, Texas, and Maine.

On the other end of the spectrum, Utah drank the least amount of beer, possibly because of Mormon beliefs.  The average person in Utah drank 20.2 gallons or 215 cans of beer.

Overall, the average American drank 28.2 gallons of beer in the past year which averages out to about 301 cans of beer.
