Stupid Criminals: A Young Man Punches an Elderly Man at Costco Over Food Samples

In this edition of Stupid Criminals, we find a young man who punches an elderly man because he told him to not take so many samples.

According to KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, 24-year-old Derrick Gharabighi was at a Costco in Burbank, California on Sunday morning, filling up on free samples of mini Eggo Waffles and Nutella.

Apparently there were only a few left, and Derrick grabbed all of them.  So a 78-year-old customer came over and told him not to take so many, because he wanted one too.

That's when Gharabighi reared back and punched the elderly man in the face.

The 78-year-old hasn't been identified, but he ended up in the hospital with a serious cut above his eye.

Gharabighi was arrested for felony elder abuse, and causing great bodily injury against a person over 70.  He's facing up to 11 years in prison if he is convicted.
