Whitesboro, NY To Vote On Controversial Seal

Take a quick look at this seal and what's the first thing that pops in your head?

My first thought was Pawnee, IN. The fictional town from Parks and Recreation. If you've seen the show, you know exactly what I'm talking about. If you haven't, go watch it, it's brilliant.

But this seal is obviously from Whitesboro, NY. A very real town that is about to vote on this very seal. The seal has been the subject of controversy for many years, because, well, it looks like a white guy strangling a Native American.

Village officials have explained that the seal is supposed to depict a historical wrestling match between a man of European descent and a Native American.

The meeting about a new seal is scheduled for this Monday, January 11th.
