I didn't even realize that the Community National Bank in the San Miguel Square Shopping Center had closed, but it has and something is already preparing to move in.

Coming in mid-July 2022, Cpl Ray's Coffeehouse will officially open in the former location of CNB in San Miguel Square.

The coffee shop has become a staple in the Permian Basin getting its start in Andrews in December 2007 to honor Corporal Ray Michael Bevel of Andrews who was killed April 21, 2007, at age 22 in Iraq during Operation Iraqui Freedom. He also lived in Hobbs from 1991 to 2000.

Midland and Odessa opened locations soon after and the coffeehouse took off, so now Midland is getting a second location in San Miguel Square.

It is unknown at this time if a second Odessa location will also be planned in the coming future, but it is possible with the popularity of the coffeehouse growing.

Cpl Ray's Coffeehouse supports local veterans and first responders and offers them and the rest of the community a great place to have a cup of coffee.

Besides hot and cold brew coffee and lattes, Cpl Ray's also offers iced teas, smoothies, lemonade, and Italian sodas. They also have a great pastry menu featuring coffee cake, of course, danishes, croissants, biscuits, muffins, and cinnamon rolls.

The San Miguel Square location will be Cpl Ray's fourth location in the Permian Basin with other locations in downtown Midland at 201 W. Wall, in Odessa at 3111 Faudree Rd., and the original location in Andrews at 801 North Main.
