How far would you go to see one of the most anticipated movies of the year a few days early? Would you drive to the theater on the other side of town? Drive to a neighboring city? Cross state boundaries? Or  —  gee, I don’t know — fly all the way from your hometown to the United Kingdom for a chance to see a movie like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 24 hours before everyone else?

That’s right, according to the official Star Wars United Kingdom Twitter account (via Heroic Hollywood), all you need to do to be the envy of your friends is buy a plane ticket to London for the opening weekend:

That sound you hear is countless Star Wars fans pricing out the cost of a planet ticket and hotel room for opening night. Joking aside, surely someone will decide that this is a trip worth making. Rogue One probably does not have the widespread appeal of Star Wars: The Force Awakens  —  after all, that was the continuation of the original trilogy featuring characters we hadn’t seen onscreen in decades  —  but there are still those out there who would rather play to fly halfway around the world than unplug from social media for one full day. I say that with zero judgment, by the way: it’s a harder decision than most of us would like to admit.

But that’s not all! If Rogue One follows the path set out by last year’s release, expect to see another news item shortly that France will be opening the film a day earlier as well. Back when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, fans around the world looked on in a jealous rage as French audiences were able to watch the film on a Wednesday. As The Telegraph noted at the time, this is a result of French exhibition rule that designates Wednesday  —  not Friday  —  the beginning of the week for new releases.

Either way, there are plenty of places to choose from if you’re interested in jumping on the Rogue One bandwagon a few days earlier than everyone else. For the rest of us regular folks, however, we’ll have to wait all the way until December 16, 2016, to watch the film.
