Below is a composite of 1410 AM which was KRIL from 1984 till it signed off permanently on July 16, 2014. But the composite is from when it was the #1 station in the Midland/Odessa area known as KRIG-The Rig 14 and played a Top 40 or hit music format back in the late 70s and early 80s.

All of the DJs went on to bigger careers in huge markets like Phoenix, Los Angeles, and New York. The DJ who posted it, John Clay, was the PD for years of KRIG and later KWES-FM the Hot 102 FM, and was even the program director for a while at Sirius/XM's 70's on 7.

Sadly the radio station never had the listeners it once had once the whole airstaff from KRIG-AM moved to KWES-FM in 1984 and the call letters were changed to KRIL-AM, they had several format changes in the 30+ years before it was signed off, the transmitter towers removed, and the building that once housed the #1 station in Midland/Odessa was torn down.

It was a sad day but with the advance of technology and AM radio not being as listened to for music anymore, the days of KRIG/KRIL had to come to an end.

The property was sold to a third party in 2014 and the place where the studio used to be is now a parking lot, so as the old Joni Mitchell song used to go, "...they paved paradise and put up a parking lot" which was probably played on the old KRIG back in the 60s.
