It seems McDonald's has finally realized what Whataburger realized long ago: That Texans are a unique brand of people with superior tastebuds. And that we love meat. A lot.

Such was the thinking behind the fast food company's most recent contest, in which Texans are urged to create their own Texas burger in McDonald's virtual kitchen using up to 10 toppings from a list of 68 ingredients, including barbecue sauce, salsa, jalapeños, chipotle ketchup, smoked bacon, caramelized onions, different cheeses, some lame-ass un-Texan veggies, and of course, various buns, and slabs of meat of a variety of weights. (Although it wouldn't let me put more than two patties on my concoction. LAME)

After building your perfect Texas burger, you get to name it and can invite your friends and family to vote for your burger up to March 27, with a $5,000 cash prize up for grabs for the burger chosen to represent the Lone Star State.

The winning burger will also be made available at McDonald's across Texas.
