A Lubbock man was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child, online solicitation of a minor, sexual assault of a child and sexual performance of a child after the girl reported the assault to her school counselor.

KAMC News reports that the victim was first contacted by the suspect, 27-year-old Donovan Picon, when she was in 7th grade going into 8th grade. Picon apparently said that he could buy her alcohol. Investigators said that every time the victim was with Picon, he would give a gift or promise a gift for sexual favors.

Picon allegedly told the victim that he wanted to keep seeing her until she turned 18, and when she did he would get her pregnant and start a family with her.

Police eventually interviewed Picon, who said that he never asked the victim how old she was. When they asked if he knew the victim was under 18, Picon said that he was aware. He also admitted to buying vapes for the victim, calling them "thank you deals."

Picon confirmed the two started talking on Snapchat in the spring of 2020, which means the victim would have been 13 years old.

Picon admitted during questioning to continuous sexual abuse of a young child. He told a detective that he would redo things if he was able to since she was underage.
