Former Lubbock Police Officer Faces Grand Theft Charge Out of Florida
A former officer with the Lubbock Police Department faces charges of grand theft out of Brevard County, Florida.
Thirty-year-old Jamie Lacraig Farrie was arrested on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022. KAMC News reports that he was charged with grand theft of over $500,000, burglary and use of a vehicle during a felony. The date of the offense was said to be March 2nd, 2022.
Farrie hasn't been with the Lubbock Police Department since October 8th, 2021. That was the day he resigned and surrendered his license with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. The reason behind Farrie's resignation wasn't listed publicly. It was, however, revealed that in April of 2021 a Departmental Complaint was received involving Farrie.
The complaint claimed that Farrie called in sick right before his shift a few days prior, but he later admitted he wasn't sick and was just running late. Farrie was apparently near Sweetwater when he called in. He had been in Abilene before, but after he called in sick, he drove back to Abilene and stayed there the rest of the night. Farrie was suspended for 5 days after police found that he engaged in both misconduct and dereliction of duty.
Farrie remains booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
