Midland and Odessa have grown so much in recent years it is both unbelievable and even unrecognizable in some cases. If you happen to end up in a certain neighborhood that you haven't been to in awhile, you may be surprised to find out that it looks completely different. That was the case for me the other day in Odessa.

I stopped by a friend's house, she had moved in the last couple of years and I had not been to her new home which ended up being off of 87th. It's been a minute, I don't go in that area often. So my question is, have you been lately? It looks so different!

I was driving down headed to my friend's house thinking what in the world? What is all of this going to be?

This shopping center is looking super nice. I'm curious to know what all will be here once it is complete.

There is a fairly new Dollar General, a new fire station almost complete, buildings being constructed that one can assume will be businesses.

Not to mention a very nice shopping center that has been in the area for quite some time, with various restaurants, a dance studio, nail salon and ice cream place in it just to name a few.

This area has really come a long way from what I remember it to be. I'm pulling for an HEB, Walmart, some place that I can shop for groceries away from the congestion that is 42nd street. That would be ideal!

Anyone know what the plans are for this area as far as what will fill the empty spots soon? Here are more photos of how 87th looks right now:
