In 2017 here in Texas a bill was passed making texting while driving illegal. I say good. There are plenty of incidents that could’ve been avoided had someone not been paying more attention to their phone than the road. There are some however, who think the law is going too far but I think that’s because they don’t understand the law and the exceptions to it. Yes, there are exceptions. Although law enforcement does not recommend it, as far as the no texting while driving law goes, it is acceptable to be doing so while stopped, say for example at a red light. Again, I cannot stress enough how NOT recommended this is but I’m not going to lie and say that I haven’t done it a few times. There are some acceptable uses of a cell phone while driving that may put some Texans minds at ease, music applications and GPS are allowed under the law so you guys can get your panties out of a bunch. Talking on the phone is also legal for drivers 17+, except when traveling through active school zones…I wonder if that means hands fee talking as well? Surely not. I mean how would they prove that you were talking on the phone and not just talking to yourself? I talk to myself in my car all the time.
No matter how you feel about the no texting while driving law, if they catch you doing it there is a fine of up to $200 and I know some folks who could turn in to repeat offenders if they aren't careful, so betta don't!
