Even though there was no fraud in the Texas elections in 2020, that doesn't mean that voting restrictions have not been put in place for the primary by Gov. Greg Abbott.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, problems are already starting to rear their ugly head as Texas opens up early voting today (February 14) for the March 1 Primary.

Election integrity is the concern even though no evidence of widespread voter fraud has been proven in the state of Texas.

Election officials in counties with a Republican majority are expressing frustration and confusion over the changes Gov. Abbott signed into law in September to make it "easier to vote and harder to cheat."

In Harris County, election officials state that 40% of mail ballots have been returned because the required identification and signatures were not in compliance with the new law.

Texas is one of 18 states with more restrictions for this election because of former President Trump's claims of a stolen election in 2020, which have not been proven.

Texas is at a disadvantage because our primary is one of the earliest in the nation coming two months before Indiana and Ohio go to the polls in May.

Issues extend beyond voters having to vote under the new restrictions, the League of Women Voters requested thousands of voter registration applications for new citizens and was told by the state that they could not fulfill the request because of paper supply shortages because the new law required forms to be updated and reprinted.

Just make sure if you are voting early to do it as soon as possible and make sure you have the proper identification and these restrictions should not be a problem for you.
