If you're planning on traveling with American Airlines over Christmas, you're going to want to pay attention. American Airlines might not have any pilots to fly their planes over Christmas.

A glitch in the companies software lead to every pilot who requested Christmas off, getting Christmas off. That means there are almost no pilots to fly the 15,000 flights they have over Christmas.

You might be thinking that American could just offer the pilots more money and get them to cancel their vacations. Well, it's not quite that easy. The airline needs to work with the pilots union to figure out how much money is an acceptable amount. They haven't done that yet. They've actually just thrown out some random numbers without any input from the union, which of course hasn't worked yet.

So as Christmas gets closer, if you're planning on flying with American Airlines, you're going to want to monitor this story.
