3 Things You DON’T Do In Midland Odessa
"You don't tug on Superman's Cape. You don't spit into the wind. You don't pull the mask off the ole Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Jim" - Jim Croce
There are just some things you don't do when you live in West Texas. I'm not talking about things that are actually against the law. I mean common sense things that you do your best to avoid based on the consequences. For example, you don't step off the curb on 42nd Street at JBS Parkway in Odessa when the light isn't in your favor-or you'll get mowed down by traffic. Common sense, right? Things like that escape some folks, unfortunately, so that's why small reminder articles like this one are meant as a public service to help keep everyone safe and on the path to a good day. Having said that, let's get into what the Top 3 things COULD be, depending on several factors like what time of year it is we're discussing this topic, and what age group we're covering:
3. YOU DON'T HIT THE POOL WITH NO SUNSCREEN
Even if your intention is to get a nice tan-you'll end up looking more like a lobster with the intense West Texas sun if you don't give your body at least MINIMAL protection. Ouch!
2. YOU DON'T DRIVE WITH YOUR WINDOWS HALF-OPEN OR DOWN
Unless you want a nice layer of dirt all over the inside of your car and covering the dash. Then, by all means, roll 'em down! Not to mention, it's rarely a nice enough temperature here, whether it's winter or summer, to have them down. Usually, it's the AC or HEAT running instead!
1. YOU DON'T DRINK THE WATER
Unless it's from the extra faucet at the sink-the one with the filter attached, or the fridge water dispenser with the filter. The taste is horrific. Even our dogs and guinea pigs won't drink unless it's from the filtered faucet.
