1 teenage boy is dead and a woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a package exploded in Austin, the second time in 2 weeks. Austin police are investigating a deadly explosion in Austin that happened early this morning. The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services received a call from a home in Central East Austin around 6:45 am local time. A teenage male was pronounced dead at the scene and a female in her 40s was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported. This is the second package explosion in Austin in less than a month.

On March 2nd, Anthony Stephan House died after a package was placed on his home's front porch. Police called the incident a "suspicious death" and are still investigating that incident. Authorities now say they are looking at the two incidents and trying to find similarities between the two explosions. They are also looking at how the packages were wrapped, if there was writing on the packages and the type of devices used in the explosion. Federal agencies are also responding to help with the investigation.
