The finish line may be in sight for Motley Crue, and frontman Vince Neil is the latest to speak about the band’s plans for winding down their career. The rocker tells the Toronto Sun that it now appears as though their next album will arrive in 2014 and will start the beginning of the end for their career.

Neil explained, “We’re going to put out some new music next year and then it’s our farewell tour — we’ll do the world one more time and then call it a day. Our farewell tour [will be like] 2014 or ’15. Tours last about two years, so to finish the world, you’ve got to do the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia … it takes some time.”

When asked about why the decision to shut it down at this point in their career, Neil stated, “It’s time, that’s really it. Do you want to go out on top rather than fading away? And that’s it. You know, I’ll continue to sing Motley with my solo band and put out solo records and stuff and Nikki [Sixx]‘s got his radio show and Tommy [Lee] wants to be a DJ, and so we’ll see what happens.”

Neil says he’ll also use the extra time on his hands to expand his business empire, which includes his Las Vegas strip club Girls, Girls, Girls and his alcohol line. But even with other ventures, he cautions, “Music’s always No. 1. I’ll always be on stage somewhere.”

The vocalist also took the time to update his health condition, revealing that he’s recovered after having kidney stones removed during the band’s Australian tour. He explained, “Except for the kidney stone and the operation, everything went well (on the Australian tour) … I started feeling it about four or five days before the first show in Sydney. I had a doctor come to my hotel room and try to get me some pain medication. Then, the day of the first Sydney show, 10 minutes before … I was curled up on the floor of my dressing room and paramedics were giving me oxygen.”

Neil says the pain briefly went away to the point he felt he could go onstage, but the pain got progressively worse until he eventually couldn’t take it anymore. Ever the trooper, Neil had surgery and then made the trip to Brisbane and performed the next day.
