I have lived in the Permian Basin all of my life and I have never had to think about traffic like you encounter in bigger metropolitan areas like DFW or Houston but now we do.  Seems in the oil boom that is presently going on in our area now I have to think about traffic and how that will effect plans and appointments I have made.  The worst place for traffic is up and down the I-20 corridor thru Midland and Odessa where you have to sit on the service roads for 10-15 minutes minimum at just about any given exit in either city and even in between both cities.  TxDOT has no plans at this time to put in exits like you find in the big cities where you can exit and "fly over" on to the desired road and merge cleanly with oncoming traffic, but it would make life easier.
