Slayer

Slayer kicked off their North American fall tour run last night (Oct. 25) in Las Vegas, delivering on their recent promise of serving up what can best be described as 'Old School Slayer Night.'

Watch out Orange County! 'Metal Masters 5' will be taking place at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Calif. with an all-star lineup of metal greats taking part. The event is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2014.

We were recently fortunate enough to speak with legendary Slayer frontman Tom Araya. During our talk with singer-bassist, he opened up wide about late Slayer guitarist and creative force Jeff Hanneman, his mindset with creating new material without Hanneman and how he would like Jeff to be remembered.

Bad news to report for Slayer fans in Alaska. Although the legendary thrash band was scheduled to perform at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage on Oct. 22, the show has been canceled.

I would love to checkout a show out of the country somewhere and this would have been a really cool gig to see is Slayer in Buenos Aires!

It still rings through the bones of Slayer fans when we think about the passing of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman. During at recent interview Tom Araya talked to Loudwire about the potential of using some Jeff Hanneman riffs on the new Slayer album.

Believe it or not, but Slayer had never actually played a Rock in Rio festival gig until last night (Sept. 22). On the same bill as Iron Maiden and Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer pummeled the Brazilian crowd with some pure American thrash, and here you can watch footage from the band's Rock in Rio 2013 set.

Of course, the metal world misses iconic Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman. The axeman was one of thrash metal's greatest songwriters and it's truly sad that Hanneman will never bestow us with another gigantic riff. Who? What? Where? When? How? In a report from the Patch, metal hooligans in Commack, New York, vandalized a building in Wicks Park by painting the Slayer logo and a pentagram alongside it (see a photo of the graffiti here). Local police initially investigated the vandalism to be associated with a hate crime after a resident had placed a call to the authorities.

Slayer have just confirmed that they will play two iconic venues that they haven't performed at in 25 years, and to make the news even more juicy, Gojira and 4Arm will be going along for the ride.
