Marvel Developing Four New TV Shows and a Miniseries, Including ‘Agent Carter’?

Marvel TV Series Agent Carter 60 Episodes
Marvel Studios

A few weeks ago we were taken aback, if not entirely surprised that Marvel would look to capitalize on the success of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ with a potential ‘Agent CarterTV series, but it seems the comic corporation’s true plans may run far deeper. A new report suggests Marvel is prepping a 60-episode commitment for four new ongoing TV shows and a miniseries, but where might the new projects land?

Take this with a grain of salt, as it took a few readings to even grasp what we’re dealing with here, but Deadline reports that Marvel has been quietly developing the 60-episode package to consist of four dramas and a miniseries, likely to be shopped among cable and video-on-demand outlets that include Netflix, Amazon and WGN America.

Very little talent has been attached to any of the potential series, though several cable and digital outlets have reportedly expressed interest, even with the deep 60-hour commitment. It isn’t entirely clear if the hours would shake out to an initial 12 episodes per project or a more complicated arrangement, as Marvel naturally refused to offer any kind of comment on it. It also remains unclear if the potential ‘Agent Carter’ TV series would emerge separately on ABC to act as an ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ companion, or if the Marvel One Shot-adapted series would be included among the five projects in question.

Considering that both Marvel talent and studio exec Jeph Loeb offered no announcements of future TV series from New York Comic-Con, it may be a while yet before we learn any real details of Marvel’s TV plans beyond the live-action ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ What say you, though? Would you want to see as many as five new Marvel TV series emerge to fill the market, or would ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and ‘Agent Carter’ be enough?
