The Iron Maiden Ed Force One jumbo jet is a marvel, transporting the band, their crew and many of the production elements from their often elaborate stage shows from location to location with relative ease. It's been admired by many, including the folks at Revell GmbH, who recently inked a deal with Global Merchandising Services to add an Ed Force One model plane to their line of model kits.

Yes, you too could soon create your own Ed Force One ... on a much smaller scale of course. According to Licensing.biz, the limited edition models are at 1:144 scale, but given the fandom over the Ed Force One, it should be a popular item amongst model building fans once it hits the market.

"As soon as we knew that Bruce [Dickinson] would be piloting the plane for Iron Maiden’s world tour, we knew that we had to do something special to celebrate the occasion, and Revell are an obvious partner for this fantastic collaboration," said Global Merchandising Services’ licensing manager, Jens Drinkwater. "Their model kits have been a synonym for plastic modeling for over 60 years, and this detailed model of Ed Force One will appeal to both traditional builders and hobbyists as well as the dedicated Iron Maiden fanbase."

Thomas Randrup, from Revell GmbH, added, "Our 1:144 scale model of Ed Force One will bring something new, as well as fun to Civil Aviation Model Kit genre and we are looking forward to a successful co-operation with Global Merchandising and Iron Maiden on this 2016 new product release."

An official release date for the Iron Maiden Ed Force One model has not been revealed as of yet, though as Randrup stated, it is expected to arrive in 2016.

As for Iron Maiden's actual Ed Force One, the custom Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet was badly damaged in early March when two of the jet's engines were partially torn apart during a ground accident in Santiago, Chile. However, the band found alternate means of transportation and continued their touring until the Ed Force One could be repaired. Within just a couple of weeks, Ed Force One was as good as new and the band has resumed using the jet once more. Dates for Iron Maiden's touring can be found here.
