Like most of you, we’re still feeling the loss of ABC’s ‘Happy Endings‘ after its untimely cancellation this past May, made all the worse but USA’s apparent decision to pass on picking up a fourth season. And while negotiations theoretically remain ongoing at other networks, ‘Happy Endings’ showrunner David Caspe seems to have moved on with a new overall deal at Sony Pictures TV.

Still more sad news for ‘Happy Endings’ fans today, as another — possibly final — nail has been placed in the coffin of the critically-adored comedy. Deadline reports that creator and showrunner David Caspe has inked a new two-year overall deal with the studio to develop projects, likely shifting attention away from the cancelled ABC comedy.

Of course, USA’s decision to pass on the series dealt a harsh blow for prospects of a fourth season, but other negotiations may still take place. TBS and NBC have also expressed a passing interest in potentially picking up the series for a fourth season, especially given TBS set the precedent by rescuing ‘Cougar Town‘ from ABC’s cancellation and has since renewed it for an additional season.

Stranger things have certainly happened, what with ‘24‘ on its way back and ‘Arrested Development‘s recent release of 15 new episodes, but what say you? Is it finally time to lay ‘Happy Endings’ to rest?
