OK guys, now is the time for that talk with your girlfriend or wife about skipping Valentine's Day this year because you don't need it to celebrate your love and such, otherwise it will cost you.

Offers.com has the result of a study that claims the average person last year spent $131 on Valentine's Day, up from $126 the year before.

Men spent almost twice as much as women, an average of $176 to women's $89.

The study also found 32% of people plan on flowers for their gift, 26% are buying candy or chocolates, 13% will buy jewelry, 9% will buy lingerie, and 6% will buy gift baskets.

And finally, the study found that peak spending for Valentine's Day was on February 13th.
