Cover songs can go either way, but there are some cover songs you may not even realize were cover songs.

The Huffington Post came up with a list of 71 Cover Songs That Are Better Than the Originals.  There are some givens, like the Jimi Hendrix version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower", or Jeff Buckley's take on Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah".

There are some controversial entries, too, like Mumford & Sons' version of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer", the Foo Fighters' cover of Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street", and Ellie Goulding's attempt at Elton John's "Your Song".

There are also some songs you probably didn't know were covers, like Aretha Franklin's "Respect", Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn", and Blondie's "The Tide is High".

Here is the complete list.
