Judging by the early returns, Chevelle should have a big 2014! The band's 'La Gargola' album gave the group their highest debut ever, arriving at No. 3, and the first single, 'Take Out the Gunman,' has raced up the song charts ever since its release earlier this year. With the momentum going strong, the band is looking to capitalize on that and they've just announced more dates for this summer.

Chevelle will kick off a one-month U.S. trek June 20 in Toledo, Ohio, with dates scheduled through July 22. In addition, the band has a couple of August and September dates on the schedule, as well. And before the summer run kicks off, there's a few festival shows as Chevelle can be found at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio, on May 17, the Bluesfest in Niceville, Fla., on May 24 and overseas at the Derby-based Download Festival in the U.K. on June 14.

Speaking about the opening week success of 'La Gargola,' drummer Sam Loeffler tells Billboard, "We weren't up against Beyonce, which was nice." The drummer also says that the band is in the process of choosing what songs will follow 'Take Out the Gunman' at radio.

He says the debate is currently between 'An Island,' a song that he says the band favors, and 'Hunter Eats Hunter' that management is pushing. He explains, "It's about what's downloaded more, what our fans say, that kind of thing, so I think it's probably going to be 'Hunter Eats Hunter.'" He also adds that 'One Ocean' might be the third single, given that it's a change-of-pace for the group.

"That's the one I think people might really like, and maybe people who don't necessarily know our band might hear it and be inclined to check it out more from that song," says Loeffler, who feels it shows a different side to the band.

Look for the band to showcase a handful of 'La Gargola' tunes in their sets this summer.
