Every year sees the 'American Horror Story' mystery deepen with each subsequent iteration, and 'Freak Show' may be the most horrifying yet, by virtue of its cast alone. Find out which character(s!) franchise staple Sarah Paulson will be playing this time around, now that 'American Horror Story' has conjured up its first 'Freak Show' image!

As revealed by Paulson herself over Twitter, the prior 'American Horror Story: Coven' lead (and Supreme) will be pulling double-duty for 'Freak Show,' playing dual-headed attraction Bette and Dot. Presumably, we're also seeing our first official photo of the new season, likely to be used as Paul's character portrait closer to the show's fall premiere.

Set in 1950 Jupiter, Florida, the new ‘Freak Show’ season will see Jessica Lange as a German ex-patriot running one of the last American freak shows, a cast of rescued “unusuals” that includes ‘Coven‘ and franchise stars Denis O'Hare, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett and Frances Conroy. ‘The Shield’ star Michael Chiklis marks the first new addition to the cast as Bates’ on-screen husband, while ‘Coven’ newcomer (and Peters’ real-life girlfriend) Emma Roberts is reportedly in talks to return.

You can check out our first look at 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' in Paulson's tweet below, and tell us what you think in the comments! What freaky scares do you think Ryan Murphy's FX horror show will conjure this time around?
