So as the temperatures soar into the triple digits let's not forget about our four legged friends, especially those who have no other choice than to be outside.

There are steps that you can take to help keep your pet cool during the heat of the day, of course one of the main things that you should do is provide some type of shelter that will give your pet the ability to get out of the sun and of course provide and adequate amount of water for your pet.

I personally have some very simple ideas that you can do without spending a great deal of money, one of those being purchasing a baby pool is a great idea for your medium to larger dogs and of course you can use anything appropriate for smaller dogs.  Another good idea is save your milk jugs or plastic drinking containers and fill them with water then freeze them and those will help your pet throughout the day.

Another idea is to contact a friend or family member and see if they can assist you by watching your pet, but understand that the responsibility is still completely yours but this may be an option that could help as well.

The best case scenario is to start crate training your pet for these types of situations but I understand that purchasing a crate is an expensive prospect but these all fall under the conversation of pet responsibilities.

Just remember to always think about your pets when the temperatures reach the extremes of hot and cold and it may not make you the most popular neighbor but if you see neglect please report it
