Top Spot for People Moving to Texas? Believe It Or Not, It’s Not Austin
Texas is constantly growing, and there seems to be more people here every day. According to a recent report from a major moving company, the Lone Star State is home to some of the top cities in the nation for relocation.
Between last January and March 2022, PODS Moving & Storage compared the number of its customers who relocated to a city or region versus those leaving the area to determine moving trends. Although Central Texas is very popular, a city in the northern area of the state was near the top of the list when it comes to the most transplants.
City in Texas With Most New Residents
Texas only had one city in the top 10, according to the report from PODS Moving & Storage. Austin is in the top 20. On the list of cities with the most people moving in, the state capital comes in at number 16.
Houston and San Antonio both ranked higher, at the 12th and 13th spots respectively. Dallas-Fort Worth claimed the top spot in Texas, and second nationwide. (To give you an idea of how much area the DFW Metroplex covers, it is larger than the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined).
Largest Counties in Texas
Harris County remains the largest county in Texas, accounting for over 16% of the population across the state.
However, according to US News & World Report, the Texas county with the largest percentage of growth in the nation is Kaufman County in northeastern Texas. This area increased by 20,000 residents from 2020 to 2021.
