When it comes to taking care of my body, very few have been as rough on themselves than I have. I think this blog will help other guys who are in the same boat as I am when it comes to shirtless summers and days on the lake.

Let's face it: I am 34 years, 5'11" and weigh around 250 lbs. I will never have the Adam Levine body or a muscled up six pack body we sometimes see.

That's the key word here: "sometimes." Because there are more dudes that have my body type than the dudes mentioned above. And that's OK.

(Now, if you are looking for that change in your life and want to get in better shape, then that option is out there.)

But I want to talk about what I (and most of you) have going on. We have the body type that isn't morbidly obese, but we could stand to lose a few pounds. This isn't some drastic exercise plan that I am trying to sell you on or endorsing any kind of a product; it's just being aware that we aren't really on the extreme side of those that don't exercise, but we aren't very healthy either.

Just do some simple changes and I promise that you will see results. You will feel better not only physically, but when it comes time to stand on the front porch in your underwear you won't be too embarrassed.

If you're like me and you have a lady in your life who does exercise regularly and eats healthy, then you know the topic comes up every once in a while that you should also work out or eat healthier.

The solution is simple and it's not that bad: just go to the gym with her once a week and work out with her. I know my girl Danielle does lots of cardio, and when I go with her I am on the treadmill next to her for the hour or so.I don't go over and start sling all kinds of weights around because I don't want to.

What I do for that extra motivation is tell her to go to the treadmill in front me and have on those stretchy pants so I can see all the benefits that working out has done for her. Plus, it gets me out of trouble when she's on the treadmill ahead of me.

I'm telling you the most uncomfortable times on the treadmill are when another female gets on the treadmill ahead of me and Danielle is next to me. I know she's thinking I'm looking, but I ain't about to look ahead no matter what. I look up at the ceiling and put my work in. That's not an issue if Danielle is on the treadmill in front of me.

When it comes to eating and drinking, leave the soda alone. That will guarantee at least 10 pounds off just by not drinking soda.

With meals, all you have to do is take what you normally and cut it in half; it's that easy. Try to avoid fast food, too. (I said try, because there isn't anyone out there that doesn't enjoy Taco Bell's late night menu once in a while!) That just means I'll skip out on the next go round of fast food.

Bros -- we aren't fat, but we're definitely not skinny. We are big dudes that have worked hard for our beer guts and enjoy our pizza, burgers and fried burritos. But we can still maintain what we got by taking out some of the bad things we put into our bodies.

Cheers to an awesome summer!
