With football season just around the corner, the Cowboys get word that Jason Witten is not going to require surgery on his lacerated spleen.Doctors have determined that the diagnosis was not as bad as originally thought and Witten will not have to undergo season ending surgery which means Tony Romo's "go-to guy" will be back on the field sometime in the first few weeks of the regular season.  His replacement John Phillips has shown that he is fully capable of filling in for the injured Witten by having a stellar pre-season in the past 2 games. So for those of us who are Cowboy fans, it looks like the season could be an exciting one and maybe, just maybe we can see our first Lombardi trophy of the new millenium in the trophy case at Cowboys stadium this year.
