Back in the 80's it was known as The Sand and Sage Motel in Odessa Texas. If you've lived in Odessa a while you may already know that. What you may not know is that it was the site of the brutal murder of a Catholic priest almost 40 years ago, Father Patrick "Patty" Ryan. To make things worse it's widely agreed upon that the wrong man was convicted for the heinous act. In fact he spent 20 years in a Texas prison for a crime that, based on the evidence, was physically impossible for him to have committed. You may be asking yourself "How could something like this happen?", I know I was when I read about it for the first time in this article. It's something we are seeing alot more of now, a false confession. You can read all about it in the afore mentioned article. I just hope the mission that's now operating in this building only uses room 126 for storage.
