Houston, Texas Woman Died After Falling Overboard on Cruise to Alaska
What happened on the Alaska Cruise where a Houston, Texas woman fell overboard? It’s a question that will be asked many times but we will probably never fully understand what took place. According to ABC 13 Authorities in Alaska are now looking into the events that lead up to 40-year-old Houston, Texas resident Selena Pau Pres falling overboard on a cruise ship.
Whenever an incident like this takes place it’s the Alaska State Troopers, specifically the Alaska Bureau of Investigation that takes the lead. The details that are known so far is that the 40-year-old victim was aboard the Solstice cruise ship that is operated by Celebrity Cruises which tours the coast of Alaska. Last Tuesday, May 17th is the date that the victim fell overboard. At the time of the unfortunate incident the ship was in the upper Lynn Canal and the woman fell at approximately 3:00 a.m.
The U.S. Coast Guard Spent Hours Searching For Her
As soon as the Houston woman went overboard the ship came to a complete stop, and there were security cameras that caught the moment that Selena Pau Pres fell overboard. At the time she hit the water the temperature was 41-degrees, which gives the human body approximately six hours of survival time. After searching the water for more than nine hours the Coast Guard made the difficult decision to suspend the search after finding no signs of her.
The Cruise Ship Did Continue With Their Trip
After the decision was made to suspend the search the ship did continue with the cruise destinations. It’s very unfortunate what happened to Selena Pau Pres hopefully as the investigation continues her family can find some closure from this tragedy.
