I don't need to go see all these Oscar-nominated films. I think I've got a pretty good idea what they're about just from the titles.

One of the more niche Oscar categories is Best Makeup and Hairstyling, which is one of those that gets awarded early on in the ceremony before any of the really big ones like Best Actress or Best Picture are announced at the very end. But sometimes it’s the technical categories that are the really interesting ones, and this year in particular saw a few very creative makeup design moves, especially when it came to superhero movies.

Just the other day I was talking to a group of friends about Jackie Chan and reminiscing on his career. He gave us Rumble in the Bronx! He gave us The Legend of the Drunken Master! He gave us silly banter while fighting guys in the Rush Hour movies, all while sporting a big, goofy smile...

Roessler, who appeared in Black Flag's lineup in the mid-'80s, won an Oscar for Best Sound Editing.

Leonardo DiCaprio has never won an Oscar. We’ve heard this narrative time and time again, especially as he inches closer and closer to finally winning an Academy Award for his work in The Revenant, but it’s time for us as a people to stand up and do something about it. OK, maybe just sit down and do something about it. And by “do something” we mean play a video game. Yesterday, at the annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the organization pulled back the curtain on a new innovation designed to streamline acceptance speeches.

At issue in the news (and on the Morning Show) recently has been the disproportionate number of Academy Award nominees of white ethnicity in comparison to those of any and all other races combined, i.e. #OscarsSoWhite. While some have questioned whether any non-white actors even deserved nominations this year, others have said non-white actors "need to stop whining" and focus on more important things. Uhh, about that:
