Sit For The Red Light-How Texas Law Differs From Other States For Bikers
Sit For The Red Light-How Texas Law Differs From Other States For Bikers
Sitting at traffic lights here in the Midland Odessa area can be tedious. The lights seem to take FOREVER to change, especially if you are waiting at a red light around one of the highways or Loops here. You may as well bring a book to read while you wait for the green to come back your way. Seriously. And that's if you're in a car or truck--with the sensors recognizing you are there. Now, imagine you're riding a motorcycle. Sitting there forever just got a whole lot worse. Those aren't the lightest machines to balance on two legs for extended periods of time. That's why-in MOST states-it is 100% LEGAL for a motorcycle to run a red light as long as conditions are safe and clear for them to do so. The law mostly exists because not all traffic lights everywhere have sensors that pick them up. They pick up heavier vehicles, but not bikes.
3 Things That Everyone Who Goes To Whataburger Knows
3 Things That Everyone Who Goes To Whataburger Knows
In Texas, we *LOVE* us some Whataburger! And if you ever leave the state for any reason, you miss one being nearby to grab a tasty #1 and a Dr Pepper Shake! And even though there are locations that are starting to pop-up in other states (Patrick Mahomes has brought the Texas favorite to Missouri!) among other locations, we all know there are certain things you can always count on when you stop by the big Orange W BESIDES the drive-thru line being long:
Road Construction In Midland Odessa… Let’s Talk About What We Really Need Help With
Road Construction In Midland Odessa… Let’s Talk About What We Really Need Help With
If you happen to jump on 191 off 1788 heading toward Odessa-and you're headed to the strip mall that has Grub, Cork & Pig, Walk-On's, and the breakfast place 'Flipped' in it... But accidentally get off on Faudree instead of Billy Hext Drive to make the Loop around backward to get there--you're then completely screwed because you literally have to drive almost 3 miles all the way back to Midland and the 1788/191 intersection in order to flip back around and head the other way and stay on 191 to Billy Hext. It's absolutely insane! So my suggestion would be at some point (hopefully close to the halfway mark) that construction be done to somehow add an off-ramp / loop-around ramp so that you could head back the other way if by chance you goofed and exited too early. Just saying that options would be nice instead of driving 6 miles out of the way if ya don't have to with gas prices what they are right now especially... Thoughts? Comment below!
Temperatures And Precipitation Above Average This Spring For Midland Odessa
Temperatures And Precipitation Above Average This Spring For Midland Odessa
We look to the Farmer's Almanac for Spring 2022-and it says that BOTH temperatures AND precipitation will be above normal for April. So as we get started on the month (and this is NO joke!)--watch for extra rainstorms to occur. And when they're heavy or severe, of course, follow severe weather protocol, be safe, and protect your loved ones-including pets! A small piece of advice to go along with this news-ya might wanna wait to put the cushions outside on the patio furniture til May. Either that or you're going to be constantly putting them away and taking them back out with the off-and-on stormy weather. On second thought-might be good additional exercise!
3 Places The REST Of America WISHES It Had That Exist In Texas
3 Places The REST Of America WISHES It Had That Exist In Texas
There are certain businesses in all different categories--restaurants, bars, concert venues, sports teams, stores... that are unique to a specific area of the country that, when we're on vacation or make a business trip thru a certain area we like to stop and partake in the joy and goodness. One example of that would be In & Out Burger. It all started in California and worked its way south and east, landing in Arizona and Texas. And even though it doesn't exist here in the Basin or even as close as Lubbock (they were SUPPOSED to head there a couple of years ago but then sold the land they had purchased and bailed out)... But that's one example of a place people love that's specific to a certain region. Here in the Lonestar State-we have those too

An Open Letter To The Girl Walking Your Dog In The Dark Without A Leash
I am a dog owner. And even though I KNOW my dogs obey me-I would NEVER walk a dog in the neighborhood (or anywhere else for that matter) without a leash. First of all it's illegal. Second-it's for their protection just as much as it is for yours and everyone around. You may THINK you have control of any situation that arises. I promise you-a stray dog comes walking down the block and sees you and your dog and takes off like a bullet towards you--you're done. There's no way to stop what's about to happen (Unless you're the bionic woman).
Midland Odessa Pet Of The Week
Midland Odessa Pet Of The Week
Meet Oliver! Oliver is a three-year-old male Dachshund-Hound mix. He was brought in as a stray after someone dumped him in a yard. Oliver, or Ollie as the staff likes to call him, has quickly won the hearts of everyone who works at the Sanctuary! He has the sweetest personality and just loves everyone! Oliver appears to be housebroken as he doesn't go potty in his kennel and waits to be let outside. He would be a great family dog as he loves to be around people. Oliver is also good with other dogs and hasn't been tested with cats. Oliver's adopters would need to have a house with a fenced-in yard for him to run and play. Come meet him in person starting Wednesday 5/4.
An Open Letter To Businesses In Midland Odessa
An Open Letter To Businesses In Midland Odessa
It started about a month ago when the outdoor temperatures started to get warmer. And as the summer season grows closer it will only be more prevalent as we go business to business, store to store, restaurant to restaurant, movie theater, mall...... I'm talking about air conditioning set to sub-zero temperatures. Went to see a movie a few weeks ago and the theater was so frigid I could barely sit there and watch the whole movie. Others in the theater were standing outside the auditorium doors off and on because it was warmer in the hallway. Which stinks because seeing a movie isn't cheap these days-especially with concessions thrown in. I completely agree with not being hot while you're watching a movie, but can't we find a temperature that's comfortable instead of 'walk-in freezer'?
The 5 Silliest City Names In Texas
The 5 Silliest City Names In Texas
What's in a name? A name defines things, whether it's a person, place or thing. And strong names can leave an impression upon the person hearing it for the very first time. So can weaker names. The greatest state in the Union has a lot of cool city names. Some you could name a child after, some that sound cool but not for a person's name--and some that are just downright goofy. And it's the goofy ones that stand out in your mind years later when you recall that road trip you took that one time. We went thru the list of all the towns in the Lonestar state and these are OUR top 5 silliest town names in Texas. See if you agree.
