Refueling and Breaking Banks: Gas Prices Soar to Record High in Texas
It was only a week ago that we were talking about gas prices going down for a little bit. But we're back to prices beginning to rise again. And this time, they're hitting new highs.
Yes, if you heard the noise of someone or something screaming, it's probably because your wallet will indeed hurt after reading this.
KWTX has reported that prices have reached new levels of hurting budgets. $4.34 is current average price of fuel across the Texas at the time of writing. And that's just for unleaded fuel.
I don't want look at the other prices for fuel for fear of passing out, so let's move on shall we?
KWTX also looked around to what other parts of Texas were shelling out to pay for fuel. It was revealed El Paso's average is $4.54, while Lubbock sits at $4.16. I'm not driving to Lubbock to get fuel that's for sure.
Overall, the USA average sits at a staggering $4.71. AAA reports this as the highest price for fuel ever set. And relief may not be coming for a while. KWTX received this comment from Daniel Armbruster, an AAA Texas spokesperson:
“Prices will likely continue to fluctuate with relief likely not coming until after the busy summer travel season concludes.”
Overall, things look a little bleak right now in terms of refueling. Makes me want to bike to work instead of drive if we're being honest here. But to look on the bright side, Texas, according to KWTX, has the 9th lowest gas prices in the nation.
Hey, at least we don't live in California where gas is...*checks notes* $6.21 A GALLON?!?!?
By the way, there's a really handy app to have on your phone (besides our free app, of course) called Gas Buddy. You can use it to see the gas prices in your town, and even have them display from lowest to highest.
Good luck out there, Texas.
