In a release sent by Midland Christian School, an announcement was made that Greg McClendon, now former athletics director and head football coach, would be resigning after 24 years. You can read the resignation letter here in an article posted on CBS7.com. In the letter, the former AD and head coach says, "I believe it is the right time to step away from Midland Christian and wish the school the very best." Officials from the school said that McClendon's resignation had nothing to do with the ongoing investigation into criminal charges brought up about two months ago.

Greg McClendon was arrested about two months ago along with three administrators and another coach and charged with failing to report an incident with the intent to conceal neglect or abuse.

Coach McClendon was named the Midland Reporter Telegram's Coach of the Year for 2021.
