Michael Fassbender Takes Down Some Carriages in New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Clip
Michael Fassbender has a lot to learn about assassin-ing for Assassin’s Creed, and a recent clip introducing the new Animus didn’t make his prospects look very promising. But today’s new clip shows a much more capable Callum Lynch/Aguilar, who is a lot more confident in his physics-defying parkour skills.
This is the most Zorro-looking clip of this movie that we’ve seen yet, probably helped along by the fact that the characters are speaking Spanish and that our main antagonist in this case is a pair of carriages drawn by terrified horses. We also get a sense of the very mud-tinged color-grading that went on in post-production, giving the film its distinctive rusty green look. But hey, the stunts do look pretty cool, with Lynch jumping off of a galloping horse into a carriage pulled by more galloping horses, and then jumping into the other carriage when the first one hits a rock and… explodes… because that’s what happens when vehicles hit rocks in the road. And then, of course, his chosen mode of transportation is suddenly reeling headlong toward a cliff, because of course it is.
Here’s the official synopsis for Assassin’s Creed:
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Assassin’s Creed hits theaters December 21.
