Luckenbach, Texas Could Be In Danger

Like in Yellowstone, big business and development could threaten the place where everybody is somebody. "Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas With Waylon and Willie and the Boys," Luckenbach is not a town or a city but a spirit that lives in us all.

Luckenbach is a staple of Texas. Even though it is just a spot in the road with an old post office and stage to play music on, it has become a part of history and life for Texans. Luckenbach represents a place where you can go and be you and not have a care in world, just a place to kick back have a good time, and make new friends.

A new development that includes a distillery and whiskey brand is moving into the area just south of Fredericksburg, which could bring in more business around them. You could see things like hotels and convenience stores go up, threatening the way of life in Luckenbach. It's just like what they want to do in the show Yellowstone. Let big business move in and make money, destroying the peace and history of the land.

Luckenback can't be messed with. It is a piece of history and a way of life. Here is what the president of Luckenbach had to say,

 “All of this is so antithetical to everything Luckenbach is about,” says Kit Patterson, who is the President of Luckenbach TX Inc., and the grandson of Luckenbach founder Hondo Crouch. “I preface everything I have to say by saying that, because it’s difficult to spend the time, energy, and resources to even talk about it, because Luckenbach is a Texas state of mind, and it’s a logic free, stress free zone. But when it comes to threatening that space, we take it seriously. That is what this is about, taking it seriously, and dealing with it to protect Luckenbach.”  Saving Country Music 

The general store and saloon first opened in 1849. In the early 1900s, Luckenbach had a population of about 500. By the 1960's it was a ghost town and a man named Hondo Crouch purchased the property that was listed for sale as a 9-acre property that said, "Town, pop. 3, for sale”
