“Ok, this simply cannot be real” That was my immediate thought when I read this story on The Huffington Post, however, after I watched the video all I could think was “WTF?”

Basically some lawmakers from North Dakota were defending North Dakota’s “Blue Laws”, which keep some businesses closed on Sundays and some can only open late on Sunday Mornings.

The article I read cited two North Dakota Representatives who made some comments that when I heard them I couldn’t figure out how such high quality video was taken in 1953…

Representative Bernie Satrom (AKA Tweedle Dee) was quoted saying that Sundays should be devoted to “spending time with your wife, your husband….making him breakfast, bringing it to him in bed and then after that go take your kids for a walk”….

Tweedle Dum (Representative Vernon Laning) added during what I can only hope was a rehearsal for “Pleasantville 2”, that “I don’t know about you, by my wife has no problem spending everything I earn in 6 and a half days”, “and I don’t think it hurts at all to have half a day off”.  Which means she spends all his money during the week and it couldn’t hurt for some stores to be closed half the day on Sunday so she can’t spend it all 7 days of the week.

Are you f*&^%g kidding me? Is this real life?  I mean, did that really happen in the US? In 2017?

It makes me sick the way so many men still see women and the way they think the world should run.

A news outlet that reported on dumb and dumbers comments asked Laning about the reaction their getting and he told them that people were simply taking the comments too seriously, and that anyone who is upset lacks a sense of humor.

Dewd really?!? That makes no sense, if you weren’t defending the laws to keep stores closed and/or require them to open late and you made those comments I might have taken them in jest.

In a world where everyone gets offended by everything I can see how some of you might skim over this story in an effort to avoid reading about yet another comment getting blown way out of proportions but come on people this shit is just crazy.

See, this is why I don’t bother reading about politics or watching the news people!
