Jerry Jones Accuses Stephen A. Smith of Being a Closet Dallas Cowboy Fan
I’ve been saying this for years.
Stephen A. Smith, the host of ESPN’s First Take, is one of the most vocal Dallas Cowboys haters on the planet. And yes, he gets under my skin when he goes on one of his anti-Cowboy rants. But is he really a big hater or does he just play one on TV?
In case you missed it, ol’ Stephen A. took First Take on the road today to do the show from The Star in Frisco. Of course, the Playmaker himself, Michael Irvin, was on the set to defend the Cowboys as he has done so many times in the past. And in case you were wondering, yes, Big Helmet Guy was on hand for a little TV time as well.
Anyway, the Playmaker wasn’t the only one on hand to defend the ‘Boys. Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones accompanied Stephen A. this morning, making their grand entrance aboard the Cowboys’ helicopter.
Jerry eventually made his way onto the First Take set for a little debate. While he was on the show, he accused the world’s biggest Cowboy hater of being a fan.
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve often wondered if he doesn’t hate them as much as he puts on. You may remember that his former partner on the show, Skip Bayless, is a big Cowboys fan. Face it – it makes for much better TV when you hate the person you’re debating’s favorite team.
It’s also worth mentioning that people tend to tune in to watch people they love to hate. Considering the fact that the Cowboys have the largest fan base in the country, that’s a lot of eyeballs tuning in to hate the hater.
