Fashion statement meets bank statement.

Nordstrom is making waves with a pair of Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans that come with fake mud on them to dupe people into thinking you're rugged.

Oh, and they cost an insane $425.

According to the product description:

Heavily distressed medium-blue denim jeans in a comfortable straight-leg fit embody rugged, Americana workwear that's seen some hard-working action with a crackled, caked-on muddy coating that shows you're not afraid to get down and dirty.

They come with "caked-on muddy coating that shows you're not afraid to get down and dirty," even though, if you're the type to fork over more than 400 bucks for them, you probably are.

That's right -- the American values of hard work and not being afraid of getting messy are now being staged.

Nordstrom, of course, is no stranger to peddling jeans that are unusual. Remember the pants with plastic knees that caused an uproar?

Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe ripped into the jeans, which, ironically enough aren't ripped, while the rest of the twittersphere also went to town by putting the pants on full blast.

Does Nordstrom care? Probably not. You can't buy this kind of publicity (something Pepsi learned the hard way), which is good, because you can use the money you save to buy these jeans.
