The Six Houseguest Behaviors That Make You the Worst Guest Ever
Whenever you get invited to someone’s house it’s safe to say that you try to be on your best behavior so they can invite you over again. You make sure you don’t dirty the house, keep it short when you use their restroom and maybe even offer to help clean up after a party.
Well, not everyone behaves their best when they go to someone's house. We’ve all had a houseguest from hell. You invite them in, offer your space, your snacks, maybe even your Wi-Fi password… and they repay you by committing crimes against hospitality.
According to HuffPost, here are six of the absolute rudest moves you can pull as a guest. And if you’ve done more than one of these things on the list then you probably owe someone an apology!
The Six Rudest Things You Can Do As a Houseguest
- Snooping. Listen, this isn’t a scavenger hunt. Don’t go digging through drawers or peeking in the medicine cabinet. If you need a Band-Aid, just ask.
- Making a mess and hiding it. Spilled wine on the couch? Don’t shove a throw pillow over it like a guilty toddler. Honesty > stealth.
3. Critiquing parenting. Hot take: someone letting you crash at their house does not mean you get to judge how they raise their kids. Zip it, Grandma.
4. Not pitching in. No one’s asking you to scrub toilets, but rinsing a dish won’t kill you. Helping out earns you serious brownie points.
5. Treating their car like a rental. Unless they offer, don’t assume the keys are up for grabs. If you know you’ll need wheels, plan ahead.
6. Demanding constant attention. Your host is not your personal tour guide. Give them space, go explore, and maybe… shockingly… entertain yourself.
Bottom line: Don’t make your host regret inviting you over. Be cool, be considerate, and you’ll always get that “come back anytime” invite.
